Inca trail 2 days is the short version of the classic 4 days Inca trail which is a perfect exclucive option for people who don’t have time but want to experience hiking to Machu Picchu by the original Inka trail, this trekking route is call the sacred Inca trail which is 12 kilometers of original trail in this tour you have the opportunity to visit Machu Picchu 2 times, on the firts day afternoon and on the second morning and you have the chance to see the sunset and the sunrise of course on the second day of the tour you will enjoy machu picchu the entire day, the famous inca trail to Machu Picchu is one of the most iconic treks that you can do in your lifetime.

Inca Trail 2026: Short Inca Trail 2 days Permits are running out quickly for that reason is better if you book it in advance. Below you will find the dates that is still available for 2026.

Inca Trail 2 Days - Trip Details

DAY 1:CUSCO | OLLANTAYTAMBO – KM 104 – MACHU PICCHU.

We will start the trip by picking you up from your hotel and then we will drive for 2 hrs  from Cusco to  Ollantaytambo train station. From here, you will take the train for 1 hour approximately to Km 104 (Chachabamba) where we will start our amazing trek on the Inca Trail! Our adventure begins with an uphill hike for about 4 hours until we arrive to the archeological site of Wiña Wayna (Always Young). We will enjoy our  box lunch (you will need to carry it)  here in the middle of the mountains and will have free time to rest and enjoy the beautiful view.
Next, we will continue our hike, moving toward a site called Inti Punku (the Sun Gate). 
After a full day of hiking, we will reach the Sun Gate, where you’ll get your first look at Machu Picchu spread out on the mountain ridge below. From there, we’ll hike for about 45 more minutes down to reach Machu Picchu itself. We’ll explore the upper section of the site following Circuit 01, where you can take the famous postcard photo of Machu Picchu. Afterward, we’ll take a bus or hike down to Aguas Calientes, arriving at around 5:00 PM. Once there, the guide will help you check in at your hotel. You’ll then have free time before dinner, during which you can visit the hot springs for a relaxing bath. After dinner, you’ll return to the hotel to spend the night.

DAY 2: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

Today you will get to enjoy exploring Machu Picchu and experience her magical presence by taking the first bus at 5:30AM  or any time in the morning to the Machu Picchu archeological site.  If you hurry you will get to see the sunrise over Machu Picchu. Take your time, making sure you tour every nook and cranny of this New 7 Wonder of the World and UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. It is an unforgettable experience.

Once inside, your guide will lead you to one of the best spots to take a photo of the citadel. After that, you’ll explore Machu Picchu by following Circuit 03. For about 2 to 3 hours, your guide will show you key landmarks such as the Temple of the Sun, the Inca Houses, the water fountains, agricultural terraces, the Sacred Rock, the Temple of the Condor, and the storehouses.

After the tour, you’ll return to Aguas Calientes for lunch (no included). Once you’ve eaten, your guide will take you to the train station for your ride back to Ollantaytambo by train. From there, you will yake a transportation back to Cusco city and we will wait for you at the bus station in Cusco and we will pick you up from there and take you back to your hotel in Cusco, arriving at around 7:30 PM approx.
Here are a few of alternative activities that you might wish to indulge in on your own:

  • Climb up Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain and appreciate the beauty and magnificence of Machu Picchu (not included in your tour price and must be booked in advance.)
  • Other optional activities in Aguas Calientes include a visit to the new local museum or to the hot springs (entrance fees required)

You will descend to Aguas Calientes and later on, board the  train around 15:20 or 16:20  depending of the availability of the train tickets for the return trip to Cusco stopping at the Ollantaytambo Station and be driven back to Cusco by Bus and finally back to  your hotel.

The Short Inca Trail Trek DOES NOT INCLUDE an extra porter so, you will need to carry all your things. Please try to pack as light as possible, which is key to enjoying this amazing trek.

This hike is ending in Aguas Calientes town and you will spend the night in a hotel in the town rather than camping (in the price is included a double / shared room  in a standar hotel.
