Day 1: Welcome to Cusco – City Tour

Our Peru Treks team, will wait for you on your arrival to the Cusco airport and transfer you to your hotel in the center of the Inca city.  Relax and drink some coca tea and then have an early lunch before starting our tour in the city of Cusco. In the afternoon begin the tour with a walk with your guide to the Plaza de Armas, and then stroll to the Qoricancha Sun Temple for a visit. Afterwards, continue to the San Pedro market to intermingle with the locals as they shop for fruits, vegetables, meats, medicinal plants, and other products.  Following, we will drive up above Cusco to visit the Inca ruins of the impressive Sacsayhauman, Qenko a place for rituals finally Tambomachay the temple of the water. Then return to your hotel in Cusco.

Day 2. Cusco – Pisac – Moray – Maras – Salineras – Ollantaytambo – Chincheros

After being picked up from your hotel in Cusco at 7:00 AM, you’ll travel in our comfortable vans to our first destination to the Mirador Taray. Here, you will enjoy a stunning panoramic view of the Sacred Valley. This viewpoint overlooks the winding Urubamba River, terraced hillsides, and the snow-capped peaks of the Andes. It’s the perfect spot for taking photos and soaking in the natural beauty of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Continue the day with a 40-minute drive to Pisac. There, you’ll explore the Pisac archaeological site perched on a hilltop with spectacular views of the valley. This site features impressive Inca buildings, the largest Inca cemetery, farming terraces, living quarters, and religious areas. After exploring the site, you will head to the town of Pisac, famous for its colorful Pisac market. It’s a great place to shop for souvenirs such as textiles, ceramics, and jewelry. Then, you’ll drive for about an hour to Urubamba.

Then you will drive up to Salineras of Maras, where over 3,000 salt pans stretch across the mountainside. These pans, which are still actively used today, have been maintained and operated by local families for generations.

After that we will visit   Moray, a fascinating archaeological site known for its large circular terraces. The Incas likely used these terraces for agricultural experiments, testing different climates on crops.

Finally we will drive to Ollantaytambo town to have our lunch

After lunch, the tour heads to Ollantaytambo inca site where we’ll explore the remarkable Ollantaytambo fortress. Constructed in the 15th century, this site functioned as a military, religious, and agricultural center for the Incas. It boasts massive stone terraces and detailed stonework, providing stunning views of the surrounding valley. Ollantaytambo is also a picturesque town featuring narrow, cobblestone streets, traditional architecture, and beautiful gardens. Take your time wandering through the local shops and cafes, and immerse yourself in the town’s rich history and culture.

After the tour we will leave you in your hotel in Ollantaytambo town, at night you can walk around of this beautiful town.

Note: This tour can we start  on the oposit direction starting from Chinchero without Pisaq.

Day 3: Alpaca Blessing Ceremony –  Aguas Calientes (B, L)

Today is a special day when you will experience the Andean Blessing Ceremony in Patacancha.  After breakfast in your hotel we will pick you up early in the morning to drive up to Patacancha Community where our andean or local families are going to prepare everything for this important ceremony, gathering coca leaves (Sacred in Inca societies), chicha de jora (Sacred Inca corn drink), native flowers, colorful ribbons, and some musical instruments. Our private transport will take us to the ceremonial site from your hotel where alpacas and llamas roam freely. The ceremony will be led by an Andean priest from the community who practices this traditional ancestral ceremony and is an intrinsic part of his culture. You will be able to fully enjoy your experiential travel, and dance and sing in this special event, sharing local customs with the villagers and offering your respect to Pachamama, as well as these marvelous animals and to the Andean gods who protect and care for the village. We will ask them for a productive crop-growing year, that the animals reproduce without any problems and that there is prosperity in general for the year ahead. After the ceremony, we will thank our Andean friends for the wonderful mystical experience they allowed us to share with them. We will return to Ollantaytambo to have lunch before boarding the train to Aguas Calientes to spend the night in a comfortable hotel.

Day 4: Aguas Calientes – Machupicchu – Cusco

Today you will get to enjoy exploring Machu Picchu and experience her magical presence by taking one of the first bus to Machu Picchu archeological site.  If you hurry you will get to see the sunrise over Machu Picchu. Take your time, making sure you tour every nook and cranny of this New 7 Wonder of the World and UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. It is an unforgettable experience.

Your guide will expertly direct you through the energetic ruins and its diverse main streets. Then on your own, wander around the town squares of the world’s spiritual center of esoteric wisdom as well as climb the intricately carved stairways made of stone. Or stay still and drink in the pure majesty of her presence, and enjoy the pure delight of the moment.
Here are a few of alternative activities that you might wish to indulge in on your own:

  • Climb up Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain and appreciate the beauty and magnificence of Machu Picchu (not included in your tour price and must be booked in advance.)
  • Other optional activities in Aguas Calientes include a visit to the new local museum or to the hot springs (entrance fees required)

You will descend to Aguas Calientes and later on, board the  train around 15:20 or 16:20  depending of the availability of the train tickets for the return trip to Cusco stopping at the Ollantaytambo Station and be driven back to Cusco by Bus and finally back to  your hotel.
